Channelling Wilde's literary milieu in its stunning cinematography, essay-style editing and expansive storytelling, the film evokes Terence Davies in its most heartbreakingly tender scenes but also finds time for some morbid and satiric humor. Everett, for all the 90s heartthrobs he played, turn out a late bloomer with much more talent and creative energy than the biased industry gives him credit for.
